General Application
When two or more commodities are shipped at one time by
one shipper to one consignee to one destination on one
Bill of Lading for which different rates are provided
in this tariff, the separate rate applicable to each
commodity will apply, except as follows:
1. If actual weights and/or measurements for each
commodity are not obtainable, charges for the entire
shipment will be computed at the rate applicable
to the highest rated commodity in the shipment.
2. Rates subject to minima
If two or more commodities are loaded in one
container and the rates for one or more of those
commodities are subject to a minimum requirement
per container, each commodity will be rated at
actual (not minimum) quantity times rate.
The minimum revenue for each container will be the
commodity rate (applicable to any commodity in the
container), times its minimum quantity requirement
that results in the highest total charges.
This rule will only apply when actual package counts,
weights, and/or measurements for each commodity in
each container are declared on the Bill of Lading.
In the event lower total charges result by
considering each commodity as an individual shipment,
such lower charges will apply.
3. All rates on a per container basis:
If two or more commodities are tendered in a shipper
packed container and if there is a per container rate
applicable to each commodity, then the per container
rate resulting in the highest total charges will
apply.
4. Combining rates with minima on different rate bases
and combining per container rates with rates with
minima:
If two or more commodities are loaded into a
container, and such commodities are subject to rates
on different rate bases with minimum quantity
requirements (e.g. weight, each) and/or rates on a
per container rate basis, then the shipment will be
rated according to the following procedure:
a. The rates on commodities subject to a minimum
requirement will be multiplied by the actual
quantity loaded, subject to the minimum
requirement for each such commodity.
b. The total charges calculated in (a) above for
each commodity in the container will be compared
with each other and with per container rates for
commodities subject to such rates if any. The
rate resulting in the highest total charges will
apply to the entire container.
Application for mixed commodity tariff items in Chapter
99 only.
1.Tariff items in Chapter 99 are subject to a minimum of
three (3) commodities per container, with no one
commodity exceeding 70% of the cargo weight per
container unless otherwise specified in the item.
2.For all cargo moving under Chapter 99 items, a
packing list is required prior to the vessel sailing.
