1. Rates will only apply for Bulk cargo in Tank containers
when so specified in individual tariff line items.
2. Shipments will only be accepted in CY/CY service.
3. Shipments will not be subject to Heavy Lift charges.
4. Freight and other charges will be computed as follows:
a. Weight (W) - rates and charges assessed on the
actual weight loaded in ecah tank container or at
ninety-five (95%) percent of the weight carrying
capacity of ech tank, whichever is higher. If
the legal maximum over-the-road load limit of the
tank container for cargo delivery to the carrier
is less than the maximum weight carrying capacity,
the over-the-road limit to be used for the
purposes of this rule.
b. Measurement (M) - rates and charges assessed on the
actual measurement of the cargo loaded in each tank
container (conversion factor: 1 US gallon .003785
cubic meters).
c. Weight or measurement (W/M) - rates and charges
assessed in accordance with paragraph a. or b.,
above, whichever produces the greater revenue.
d. Per tank container (TK) (ATFI Container Type Code
TC) - rates and charges assessed in accordance
with the provisions of Rule 2-02B.
5. Each tank container and its contents are transported
by the carrier as a single package and carrier
liability is limited to USD500.00 per container and
its contents.
6. Before finishing a tank container to shipper, carrier
will have rough cleaned the tank. Rough cleaned means
having rendered the tank reasonably free from remains
of materials foreign to the commodity offered for
transportation. Carrier will, if requested before
dispatch of the container, advise shipper as to the
commodity last transported in the equipment which
shipper proposed to load. Shipper may elect, at his
own expense, to reclean the interior of the equipment
furnished.
7. Acceptance of tank container by the shipper shall
relieve the carrier of all responsibility for any
damage to goods carried in that container resulting
from the condition of the container used or the
commodity transported in it. Recleaning of a
container shall in no way alter the requirements of
Rules 21 and 23.
8. After delivery of the loaded tank container to
consignee, consignee is required to clean the tank
container sufficiently to remove all trace of the
commodity which was shipped therein and to the
satisfaction of the carrier. Bills of Lading must be
so claused. In the event the consignee fails to comply
with this requirement, carrier shall return the tank
container to the consignee for additonal cleaning to
the extent necessary. Rejection of the empty container
by carrier shall not alter the equipment detention
charge and free time.
