Whenever the term "Refrigerated" (container temp RE) appears in this tariff, the following terms and conditions apply: 1. Definition of refrigeration Refrigeration is the operation of cooling substance or control of temperature in containers for all or any portion of the voyage, including pre-cooling or pre-heating of containers, prior to loading of cargo. 2. Item must refer to this Rule Specific reference to this rule must be made in the commodity description for any cargo which is benefited by being refrigerated or heated whenever temperature control is applied. 3. Refrigerated cargo rates assessed on all refrigerated cargo Refrigerated cargo rates must be assessed on any cargo carried under temperature control for all or any portion of the voyage. 4. Freight charges must be prepaid on temperature controlled cargo Freight charges on all temperature controlled cargo must be fully prepaid in accordance with Rule 7 (also see exceptions contained therein). 5. Application of rates on chill and frozen cargo: Unless otherwise provided, when a tariff item refers to Rule 2-140 as per Paragraph 2 above, the rate applies to both chill and frozen cargo. If the commodity description restricts the cargo to frozen (FZN), then the cargo is required to be intended for transport at or below - 5 (minus five) degrees Celsius. If the item description restricts the cargo to chill (CLD), then the cargo is required to be intended for transport above - 5 (minus five) degrees Celsius.
